Should work without any problems for most of the SATA controllers.

A similar question...

Do the PCI SATA controller cards work well if I do not want to use their RAID capabilities? I have a machine w/out SATA support, but have 3 80GB SATA drives that I could use. Could I buy one of the $30 SATA controllers, and let SME setup software RAID?
Thanks,
Ryan

This seems to be working fine.
