G'day
I seem to have discovered a problem, and I'm a bit surprised nobody else has seen it. Once I've confirmed it I'll raise a bug.
The issue is described in http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2005-August/109595.html and http://web.brandeis.edu/pages/view/Bio/SambaNotes
Basically, if a user makes files available offline from an IBAY in XP they get an error when they change a file not owned by them (ie owner is another user, but group perms are writeable) and when they synchronize they get an error that there are permission problems writing the file. This is annoying.
Fix MAY be to set dos filemode = yes
Has anyone else experienced this problem? It will only occur on systems with multiple users and ibays accessed by multiple users.

To answer myself it appears that samba 3.0.0 is requires, dos filesmode = yes AND a filesystem with ACLs.
See
http://www.wlug.org.nz/SambaNotes?version=25
I've confrmed that the problem exists on SME6.0 and SME7RC1
Next step is bug land...

Hi
Did you raise a bug report on this one? Or did you resolve it?
Cheers
Rob
