Title: Champagne ! for the SME 7.0 dev team : hip hip hip hourra !
Post by: RvLardin on March 22, 2006, 11:44:27 AM
There's no way to reply to the post [Announcement] so I add this one !

Thanks and many other gratitudes (in english ?) to the dev team !
You made a wonderfull job, the availibility of this RC1 is a real present to all of us. Your job is excellent and give to all of us a new start in our businesses or admin life !
8-)
:pint: :pint: :pint:

For me, for example, I bind my activity for monthes to SME, I had a period of doubt during 2004/2005 but now I'm really proud of the confidence i have placed on you !
Thanks again.

I'm doing the maximum to give contribs that will (a little) complete your job but I'm don't have, for now, the capacity to do a lot more than that ($$$).
:)

Thanks also to Shad Lords that was the first who restore hope when he began the SME7 project, he has disappear from here, but my thoughts are are also directed to him.

 ;-)

 :pint:  :pint: :pint:

RV, really happy.

Rv, you could have reminded the link/site where those contribs are :
http://sme.firewall-services.com
:) :)

I'm also very pleased by the release of this -rc1, we're never been so close from a perfect final release, and i'm happily hacking on it since a few days.

No offence to Shad, but SME7 was my personal project at the start.

Shad did pull together 6.5.

Shad is very busy, but he is still active in the bug tracker.

Champagne is nice, but please make mine Cointreau :-)

I started 6.5 and had done a little toward moving toward a CentOS base.  The current 7.0 release combined a little of the work that I had done and some of the changes from 6.5 with a ton of work that Charlie had done.  It has developed into a great product with the dedicated work of many individuals and it is great to have the support of Mitel again.

I'm not gone. :-)  I'm still doing what I can to help out but am very busy with other obligations so I don't have the time to dedicate to the fourms.  I've been putting my time/skills to work where they will be most benifitial.

To some people, their hero's are footbal players or pop stars or politicans ...

My personal ones are Richard Stallman, Linus Torvalds and ....

Chralie Brady, Shad, Jeff and all the other devscontribs on SME

With people like these working on projects fanatically and quietly in the background without all the media fuss they are changing the world for a better place and this deserves the highest commendation.

I was just looking at my first SME CD (e-Smith ver 4.1.1) sent out from Ottawa (27/03/01) free of charge !!!

Yep, it changed my world for the better !!!

Cheers,

I want to add my thanks to Gordon as well.  He helped steer me n the right direction on more than one occasion

DONATE

If you really want to express your gratitude, then donate.  Clicking the $10 button won't hurt very much... but in my opinion the $100 button is more like it:

In only takes a couple of minutes.

:-?

I don't want to be brutal, but I must express here my confusion about who's who in the SME project. Althought i have read carefully all the pages about the constitution, i've voted for 'leaders' and so on : i don't really understand the main goal of contribs. Sorry to say that, i don't want to hurt anyone but, for me, giving money to contribs seems like giving money to sourceforge :
It's usefull, it's a good idea but, for the moment, I prefer giving money to the projects inside then to this organisation. If possible, i will prefer giving directly to the dev or the contributor's (that i did, a little) rather than to an 'organization' that i don't really understand. What my money will be use to ? Wich part will be given to the dev team ?
I don't known.
I must admit that my poor english is also a pb for my good understanding.

At all, you're right : 100 $ won't hurt me and it's a usefull site, but i must express my fealing about that.

In order to excuse my-self for thoses words, I just give 100$.
But i would be very please to know the usage of this amount (and receiving a receipt of this donation).

For example of what I'm waiting for from contribs.org, I'm asking for monthes for a 'security list' about SME and I offered to animate it ...

Thanks for your job, even if I don't really understand what it is.:hammer:

And sorry again if i hurt anyone with those words.

RV.
