Title: restore configuration?

will a desktop backup restore the configuration to a second replacement box, or do i have to load the modules again and configure the new box?

A (desktop backup) restore to a freshly installed OS, will restore server configuration & settings (including configuration settings for add on contribs) & users & ibays & user data & ibay data etc.

You WILL need to reinstall any add on contribs (rpms) that you had previously installed on the server you backed up.

Be aware that if your resultant desktop backup file exceeds 2Gb you will not be able to restore from that file.
In that case use the backup2ws contrib (& specifiy file chunks of 2Gb) or use tape.
