Title: considerings after editing grub.conf
Post by: skovsgaard on March 30, 2006, 01:13:44 PM
My hardware showed up being quite complicated upgrading pre4 -> rc1 as reported in bug 1103 - http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1103
The workaround Charlie pointed out seems being succesfull.

As a workaround, you might try adding "pci=noacpi" to the grub startup line.
Type (IIRC) 'a', 'a', ' pci=noacpi' and ENTER at boot time.

- thanks Charlie. After adding the pci=noacpi argument in grub.conf on a pre4 system the upgrading to rc1 worked flawlessly.

Are there some disadvantages in this workaround worth considering in the long run and maybe more extensive tests that I should carry out before I put this system back in production??

TIA
