Title: IMAP client problems
Post by: uniqsys on April 04, 2006, 09:08:23 PM
Hi everyone,

I am trying to transfer emails from 6.0 to 7.0rc1. Per advice on the forums, I used imapcopy.  In keeping with their suggestions, I used it in test mode and copied only one message per folder (86 folders) and only for one test user.  The copy function worked.  It is very easy to use.

When I checked the user's email with Webmail, all was there and in the correct structure.  GREAT!

Now the problem.  When I checked the email with an IMAP client such as Thunderbird or Ximian Evolution, only the inbox shows up.  Is anyone else experiencing this trouble?  Any ideas besides backup/restore as suggested in other topic comments on this subject?

Thanks.

Have you tried (in your email client) to 'refresh folder list' or (re)'subscribe' or whatever it is called?

Yes.  I have tried refresh, reboot and rebuild the account. No luck.  I have found that you can create the folder in the client and it will be created properly and that seems to be the only way the client will "see" any folder besides the INBOX.

I don't want to raise this as a bug unless it really is one and I was hoping someone else could sonfirm it.

Thanks.

Experienced the same problem after an upgrade from a SME 6.0 Plus to SME 7.0pre4

Solved the problem by removing the account in the mail client, then login to the system via putty and deleting ~/maildir/.subscriptions

Hereafter I was able to make the account and subscribe to the IMAP folders.

Thanks for the advice.

I tried exactly what you said.  Delete the account in the client, ssh into the server and delete ~maildir/.subscriptions and then re-create the account.

It didn't work.  It is troublesome because we would like to move to 7.0 smoothly.

Since you got it too, is it worth posting a bug?

Thanks.  I am moving this issue to the bugzilla.  Bug#967 seems to be a similar issue.
