Title: why does the obvios evade me so??

I am trying to set up a linksys pap2 to sail and keep getting an error....

Username/auth name mismatch

methinks this is trying to tell me something other than the wrong Username/auth name mismatch

ideas?

The username and authuser must be the same i.e if the extension you are trying to register the adapter to is 5001 then the username and authuser is 5001.

I ran into a similar problem and it turned out to be a DTMF issue I changed my Grandstream SIP phone to use RFC 2833 for DTMF and all was well after that.

Oh and you need to change the DTMF setting on the server side as well.
I think it's dtmfmode=rfc2833
