Title: Spamassassin slowing computer down
Post by: olddog on April 13, 2006, 08:49:57 PM
Hi  ALL,

Got a strange problem.  I have installed Spamassassin from Knuddi's site, and did the updates to a 6.01 server.  Now the computer seems to freeze, but on checking it is not frozen it is just working hard.  If I stop Spamassassin the computer speed goes back to normal.  It seems the Spamassassin "SA" is over working the computer.

I looked but couldn't find any forums on this if anyone knows where to look I would be thankful for the help
 :-?

To me this sounds as if SA is doing some network tests that it simply is timing out in. Is the server behind a firewall or running as FW (server-gateway)?

Try to disable some of the network tests in:

/etc/mail/spamassassin/init.pre

I would suggest to disable SPF, Pyzor, DCC and Razor2 and the see.
