Title: simple question about my emails
Post by: WACOMalt on April 15, 2006, 10:11:50 PM
alright, I am still struggling with my email setup. I HAVE now read the documentation.

ok, so I have my primary server, for www.wacomalt.com, and a separate virtual domain for www.nimagineca.com. wacomalt uses the "Primary" ibay, nimagineca uses the "nimagineca" ibay. then I went into users, created "bensumner", which I intend to use with nimagineca.com for email, so I want to have a "bensumner@nimagineca.com" email address.

ok, well first off, why do the passwords have to be so screwy? uppercase, lowercase, number, and non number symbol? thats just overboard! .. is there any way to turn that off? I am transferring email accounts from a previous server, where the only restricions on email passwords was that it not be the same as your user name. many people had accounts with my server, and when the transfer to this server is done, I dont want them to all have to change their passwords.

anyways, I temporarily have a rediculusly annoying password set for that user.

now, to have the "bensumner@nimagineca.com" email account, do I have to do anything with psudonyms? or does creating the user "bensumner" automatically make it work on both wacomalt.com and nimagineca.com?

I did search, and no one explained the reason for the password requirements.

well, I know why, and always did. they are, as you said, strong passwords, and therefore hard to crack. but... what if I dont care?

you can call me stupid for that, only time will tell if that is true. But here is my question. can I turn the requirements off? or change the requirements a little?

if not, can I assign a different password for that user's email access?

and then also.. my other questions from the first post... well, Im not retyping those, so just look after the password question in the first post.

anyways, thanks for at least replying.

I really dont see where you figured out to search for password "check and settings"? if I knew that had something to do with my question I would have searched that. :/ many sorrries there, as I obviously didnt search very well..

EDIT: and thank you very much, that article is exactly what I needed.
