Hi, I originally posted this here:

Hi,
Since I posted this, I kept looking for a solution that was related to outlook. I have tried all things that looked like they made sense, no change.
Today I set up the same acct using Outlook Express and have exact same issues delays, timeouts etc.
So, I changed the acct to POP instead of IMAP and it is a ROCKET, not one hicup, no issue.
I really wanted to make this work reliably with IMAP, and OUTLOOK2003.
I am more than happy to pay for a sure fix solution to this issue if one exists, before I go and redo all the accounts on the PC's.

Can you tell me how many people are connecting and using IMAP at the same time. There is a Qmail IMAP server setting that limits concurrent connections to 25 (If I am correct). Let me know more and I'll try to help.
At our office I hade a problem that sounds the same. I posted and received some help, but I was not able to fix it. I ended up hiring a Qmail consultant (&150 and hour, 2 hours minimum). He fixed it in minutes, I had completely overlooked the problem.

Hi Chris,
As per the original post I did the concurrent connection adjustment:
Hi,
SMEServer 6.0.1, 3.0GHZ CPU / 2GB RAM / 30 users in two different buildings.
OUTLOOK 2003 is timing out.
Searched the forums and applied the suggested fis:
/sbin/e-smith/config setprop imap ConcurrencyLimit 200
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/imap-conf
svc -t imap (or svc -t /service/imap)

Hello Dan. It looks like you did what I tried before. I remember the consultant telling me I had almost completed the adjustment, but I had not completed it somehow. I'm racking my brain trying to remember what he did to actually get it to work.
BTW, I have twice the number of people and 1/3 the server you have. Now that IMAP is working correctly, the server just idles along. I will search for more info. I can also forward the consultant info if you like.
I DO remember that the IMAP logs reflected that the concurrency limit did NOT get corrected when I tried it, again there was some other "command" that Qmail needed to get things going.

This is really bizaar. For the better part of the afternoon, no time outs.
Then all of a sudden, major timeouts.
It is so inconsistent - hit-miss.

And no more problems.
Did not change a thing on the server, just put all outlook client accts as POP, instead of the IMAP, things are much faster, smoother, and no timeouts.
