Is it me who is stoopid ?
I went to https://hardware.redhat.com/hwcert/query.cgi to check for compatible adaptec controllers
I looked for version 4, platform i386, compatible, peripherals, vendor: adaptec
No results
I then tried to search for mylex, no results again
Apparently there is only 9 compatible peripherals and 0 certified.
Somehow I find this hard to believe...
Actually I was looking for SATA controllers I could use on SME 7, and I am aware that I can find recommendations on this forum, I just wanted to know what RH had to say...

You can search for supported servers and try to figure out what storage adapters they use.
Or for more opinions you can search the centos mailing list using site:lists.centos.org on google - ie:
