I can't find documentation for sme 7 port opening
have to do this this same way like in 6, 6.5 version ?

How about using portwarding? that's what I'm going to try to open 5190
-
I tried portforwarding no luck seems to block outgoing and incoming
utp trafic

Unless you are running a sip proxy on the server, there is no point in opening port 5060.
You need to forward UDP port 5060 to the worstation IP address.
You also need to forward the applicable RTP ports to the workstation otherwise you will find there is no or at best one way audio.

I'm running in server gateway mode
looks like all udp (forward)traffic is blocked by the sme firewall
so there must be over ruling some where
iptraf shows incoming and outgoing udp traffic in " red" is this normal?

You need to set up Port Forwarding rules for SIP and RTP in the server via the Port Forwarding panel in the Server Manager. This will open and forward the ports.
So, for example you would forward udp port 5060 from your router (if you have one) to the SME server then port forward udp port 5060 from the server to the workstation IP.
Same for the RTP ports.
Unfortunately SIP and NAT do not work together very well. It can take a lot of trail and error to get the SIP device to work correctly. I am assuming in your case that the SIP device is a softphone.
You will need to make sure that the SIP device is set up to use either the VOIP providers STUN server or one of the public STUN servers.
There is plenty of info on SIP NAT transversal on the net
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sip%2Bnat&meta=
If the VOIP provider provides an IAX2 service then use that instead of SIP. IAX2 is NAT aware and you only need to forward udp port 4569 to the VOIP device.
And yes, all udp connections will be shown in red in IPtraf. This is normal.

Hi
I'm not sure why you need to open ports ... is the client work station behind your firewall ... or an outside work station.
I'm running the sail ver af asterisk and I have 3 softphones connected to it as well as a softphone from work and all work fine without having to open any ports or forward any ports for that matter.
Before I used asterisk I connected straight to astratel with a soft phone as well as an SPA3000 and even then I didn't need to open or forward any ports.
Are you sure your client is seting up there conection properly.

Thanks Jon
the client voip say proxy registration error and nat unknown
The router is full open all trafic to default server ( wan card sme)
maybe is a router nat problem (old tweaked speed touch) I will replace
this one first and give it second try

Is the speedtouch bridged or running normally?
If you are running normally the following link may be of some help.
