Title: Reverse DNS and Emails
Post by: finchwizard on May 09, 2006, 12:29:19 AM
When installing SME6 a while ago.

I have 2 networks separated by VLAN's.

When sending emails, the network that the server was on, would send emails fine, no problems, the other network when trying to send emails would take forever, well over 40-50seconds because it was trying to do reverse lookups on the computers.

Is this still how SME7 works? And would the template changes still be the same and in the same place?

Or is there an easy way to turn off Reverse DNS lookups on Emails?

Kind Regards
Finchwizard

Does anyone know?

I can't test it at the moment.

This was an issue with the SME6 servers which I have not seen on my installation of the SME7.

On SME6, connected via (non-SME) VPN tunnel from work, sending was not usable. It took forever, ultimately working but not practical, so I used the local SMTP server.

Before cutting over to the SME7 I verified this behavior was gone. It is, and I suspect you will find it works for the scenario you depict.

Sorry I cannot say I replicated your exact situation but I believe we are referring to the same issue.
