I get:

mail.havsnogen.dk - 83.91.23.110  [Could not connect: Could not receive data: Operation timed out.]

Have you got port 25 forwarded to the server from the modem/router?

The SME are the first thing that meets the internet, and it runs all the traffic to the local network with 2 netcards installed.

External is the same adress always: 83.91.23.110

Internal it goes with 192.168.1.x (SME is running always as DHCP-server)

If you have ADSL, then the SMEServer must be plugged into a modem or modem/router, which is then plugged into the telephone socket.   I suspect that the modem/router has not been set-up to forward port 25 to the server.  Perhaps it was supplied by your phone company or ISP.

I have a adsl-modem, but there is nothing to configure on that

But I think I have solved the problem. On gratisdns.dk I have pointet the mx-record to havsnogen.dk, but now I have added my adsl/telphone suppliers server there as well, and this morning I recieved 3 emails. So it looks as it works fine, I will wait a few days and see.

Thanks for input and help

Ian

Then I suspect what is now happening is that your 1st preference Mx record is failing, thus it is delivering the mail to the ISP mailbox (the "backup" MX).  and you are then "polling" the mailbox using fetchmail (setup under "email" in server-manager).

This means you have not "solved" the problem at all, just avoided it!!
