Title: Replacing an Ethernet board
Post by: kozel on May 12, 2006, 08:12:47 PM
I have a production 6.0.1-01 server running nonstop for 2.5 years. I find that I'd like to replace the wan nic interface with a 10/100 board.  Is there a preferred/easy way to have it recognized and configured?

Replace it. Restart. Choose "configure" in the console menu.

I presume that you do not have a 100MBit WAN link. Are you sure that you want to replace the wan nic?

Yup. Our providor offers upto 30mbps upload and we can't get past 10. I assume it is the 10BT board.

Well, lucky  you :-)

Be aware that SME 6 is based on RedHat 7.3, so bleeding edge hardware probably won't be supported. There's plenty of 100Mbps NICs which will work fine though.
