Title: Dynamic DNS with router usage
Post by: ettore on May 14, 2006, 09:51:53 AM
Somebody can help me abt this? I have a linksys router connected to dsl line, and I have setted SME as server only. My question is this one Having a custom DNS connection with DynDNS I try to fix in bios of router, but assistance of linksys replay me that for a bug on bios code at moment will be not possible to set string - example.com&sysmem=custom -
I have seen that in SME exist possibility to fix dynamic DNS connection activating a deamon when setted as server and gateway. How I can activate daemon in server only condition? Exist any other solution or suggestion to help me????

Tks in advance

This has been a problem with Linksys routers for as long as I can remember, would have thought they would have either sorted the problem or removed support for the dyndns.com service.

I cannot see how you can do this, how will your server, sat behind a Linksys router, know when your public ip address has changed?

Have you thought about going the easy route and setting your SMEserver up in server+gateway mode.

Ref. your reply I know that this is a problem of Linksys. Infact sollicited their assistance, they say that are working on a new firmware solving problem.

Meanwhile having this router for connection I think not possible to switch the SME on server and gateway having the Linksys.

The only chance is to start demon of Sme for dynamic connection forcing the setting of SME.

Can you help me???
