Does anybody know how I can use SME print server with LaserWriter 12/640PS as a network printer?
My printer configuration printout page shows:
NetWare
Printer Name: APPLE_LWa453fb
Ethernet: "Mac address goes here"
NetWare Frame Type: Autodetect
EtherTalk: PostScript
NetWare: Autodetect
PServer name: APPLE_LWa453fb
TCP/IP: PostScript
IP address: 0.0.0.0
My question is how can I set it up since the IP address shows 0.0.0.0
In "Create a new network printer" I tried:
Hostname or IP address of the network printer: 0.0.0.0
Network printer name (enter raw if not sure): APPLE_LWa453fb
but it does not print
Now, my Macintosh computer has no problem printing directly to this printer using AppleTalk.
Since SME has netatalk installed, how can I use it to set up this printer?

You will need to reconfigure the printer to use TCP/IP. It is currently set to use Netware which is IPX/SPX based.
The Printer or Interface manual should tell you how to set the printer up for TCP/IP working.

Thanks JonB
After some googling I found out that this printer does not get IP address from DHCP server automatically and I have to manually assign an IP address for it. I found instructions how to do it and I am posting a link to it just in case somene else has the same issue.

Now that's the way to do it Calisun ... you solved your problem and posted it back into the forum for others' benefit. Now let's hope others see and understand how to use these fora!
