I'm sure I'm overlooking it, but I can't find info to upgrade the kernal for dual cpu support.
In debian, it's apt-get install kernel-image-2.6-smp
Got a command like that? :)

Both SMP and uniprocessor kernels are installed by default. You should see a choice at boot time - and SMP should be the default if your hardware is SMP capable.

I've just upgrade from 6.01 to 7.0, it went smooth as could be, however when the server boots, by default it selects up kernel insted of smp kernel. its running on a ibm 5100 with 2X866P3. is there a argument i can set to change it to smp upon bootup? and is there a command i can use to make sure both processors are being used?

Select SMP once. It will become the default for future reboots.
