Hi,
Just went onsite at an office and they have SME installed as their server. The install looks to have been screwed up to be honest as the network cards have IP's on the same range. The location of it and some other stuff makes me think that it should be in use as a standard gateway between the internet and the LAN. I dont think it is bridging in anyway.
My question is..... IS reconfiguring the internal or external NIC a matter of editing the ifcfg files or is their an esmith way of doing it? I know about hte server-management webpage but this seems aimed at user configuration and I was wondering if there is another config tool that takes care of lower level stuff?
any help is much appreciated

It sounds as though you are correct. The nics should be in different subnets. Configuration is handeled by loging in as "admin" and using the root/admin password at a terminal or using putty from a desktop. You will be presented with a menu that the number 2 option is configure server. If you step through the screens you will see where to change settings for the nics.
You will also find this all explained in the documentation area at the left.

thanks for the reply, and I have started reading the docs as well but I admit it I was being a bit lazy and asking while reading :(
I will try the admin user route that you suggested and see how i get on.
