Unsure if this is the right place to post, please forgive me if it is not. I am currently running SME 7.0 RC3 under VMWare. I got the following error last night in /var/log/messages

Jun 8 22:05:32 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 1902 (mysqld).

Jun 8 22:19:47 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 1939 (mysqld).
Jun 8 22:19:47 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 1912 (httpd).
Jun 8 22:37:19 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 1940 (mysqld).
Jun 8 22:43:39 kernel: Memory: 189752k/196608k available (2117k kernel code, 6252k reserved, 669k data, 144k init, 0k highmem)
Resolved via Reboot. Server had been "UP" 90+ days.
Has anyone seen this before? Is it a fluke?

RC3 is available only for a few days. How can it be up 90+ days?
-
Thanks for that, it was helpfull.
Has anyone had any memory issues with SME and VMWare?

I have the same problem and it casues my new server to crash eash night - I'm not using vmware but an amd64 2600+ with 512MB RAM and 5 users.
I cannot see why the server runs out of memory in the middle of each night when noone's using it. I have only had this problem with RC3.

Has your server been upgraded from a previous version (which one) ?
and :
has a full reconfiguration been performed after the upgrade?
The issue reported by tariqf is now on the Bugtracker:
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1660
You may wish to follow suite.
Thanks.

I have something very similar. The oom messages start at 01.57am every morning that virus scanning of the entire system is requested and the RC3 server goes unresponsive - failing to serve web pages or do any mail serving - for about 8 hours and then recovers.
My workaround for the moment is to disable virus scanning, which has prevented the problem recurring. I assumed the problem was my underpowered 800Mhz ViaC3 processor pc...
