First of all, please post all non-core related requests in the contribs catagory.
So far my testing (only about 15 minutes worth) shows that it work on SMEV7. I will do some further testing and post a how-to in the contribs section. It only took 10 minutes to install.
This is a very nice forum software, so far I like it very much.
-
Sorry about that. My bad.
Could a MOD please move this thread?
Cheers!

Sorry to drag up such an old thread but did this how-to ever get posted? I've looked but can't find reference to it anywhere. I need to setup a forum on SME7.2 and have tried PhpBB which works ok but the back end is a bit limited for what I need, any clues?

Well I installed the Wordpress contrib and then created a new directory under that (i.e. /opt/wordpress/forum) and installed SMF there. This was before had a chance to play with the SME Site Maker Script (http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Site_Maker). I think if I was to do it again, I would create a new directory in /opt for SMF using the previously mentioned script. I don't know that there is any issue with dropping it in an existing /opt directory (I'm sure that someone will let us know if that is bad), but it seems to me that there would be some advantage in having them separate if you wanted to make some changes without affecting your entire site...
