i have the same problem. But the same CD works fine on another computer. SME 6.0 installs OK on Problem computer. Why the problem computer quits on SME7.0?

This needs logging in the bug tracker so the developers can look into the problem.
You will find a link to the bug tracker on the left hand menu.

arupmondal, have you got a usb card reader or usb mass storage device attached to your PC?
If so remove it and try again.

I did NOT connect any external device to the COMPAQ PC.

I have not tried with centOS 4.3 yet. But I will do and give you feedback. Please remember that SME6.0 is installed and runs OK. I wonder why SME7.0 would not run!!!!!!!!!! So, it is not like SME does not work on this PC. Only SME7.0 does not work whereas SME6.0 is absolutely OK with this PC.

There is a big difference between SME6 and SME7.0x for example SME6 was based on Redhat 7.3/8.0 and uses 2.4 kernel, now SME 7.0x is based on Centos 4.3/RHEL and uses a 2.6 kernel.
