msilkjr,

So... it doesn't ask for a password... just tries to authenticate using a key from your PUTTY?  Is that right?

On you old system did you authenticate with a password or a key?

Seems like PUTTY is presenting a key that doesn't work... probably because the key was built for the old server and won't work on the new server.

the SME server always prompted me for a login then a password. Now all I get is this message " No supported authentication methods left to try! "

so I would say I always have auth via a password I dont know how to make putty Auth by a key

Can you try from a different user on your PC... or a diferent PC.  This seems a little like a problem with PUTTY.

Also... you could rebuild the templates if you can get to the command line:

signal-event remoteaccess-update

I think that will rebuild the ssh conf files... but I doubt the problem is there.  Frankly, this one is weird.

Hi,

I happen to have exactly the same problem when trying to ssh into my sme-server with winscp:
Code: [Select]

Using username "root".
No supported authentication methods left to try!

Connection has been unexpectedly closed. Server sent command exit status 0.

Also with ssh using putty or sftp using filezilla I can't seem to make it work. I have allowed remote access and I've added my green (lan) network as a local network (my sme-server is on a dmz).
Frankly I haven't got a clue how to make it work? Anybody?

If two people are experiencing this problem I suggest it may be a bug and needs logging in the bug tracker.

From reading It sound like we are both using IPcop for routers, now this may be part of it. But even hooked to the same network ( hence both the server and my machine having ips in the same net range) I cant ssh in.

I don't have IPCop, but Smoothwall, so almost the same. I've been looking around for a bit (http://www.scroogle.org/cgi-bin/nbbw.cgi?Gw=PuTTY+%22No+supported+authentication+methods+left+to+try%21%22+)
and it appears to be a PuTTY issue. I don't know how to solve it. It does have something to do with ssh, because I can ftp to sme-server, but I cannot sftp to it... Hopefully someone can help us out  :-?

Has anybody solved this issue.

I now get this message when I changed from the setting in the server manger remote access panel.

Allow secure shell access using standard passwords

from Yes to No,

I guess I need to set up a secure key system but its a bit out of my depth,
can anybody recomend a simple guide

Thanks
