Title: Incoming email not getting to intended mailbox
Post by: Paperguides on June 20, 2006, 05:38:31 PM
I have a couple of email problems:

1) Email not getting to user.  I think it happens when the sender uses BCC.  The message ends up with the admin contact and can then be redirected.

This happens on both 7rc3 and 6.0.1 systems.  Are there any changes I can make to the setup to change this behavior or is it as designed?

2) emails sent by some people are duplicated when the user picks up their mail.  It only happens with some senders but happens on every one of their mails.  The mail client (thunderbird or evolution) and collection method (pop3 or Imap) make no difference.

TIA,

Tony

You haven't stated as much, but I'm pretty sure you are using fetchmail multidrop mail collection. What you are seeing is a known deficiency of multidrop mail. It's possible that you can use the "sort header" feature to ensure correct delivery, but that depends on details of your ISPs mail delivery system. Read the Users Guide.

And avoid multidrop mail if at all possible.

I was but I didn't realise that it would cause this type of problem. I am in the process of moving the systems to SMTP.

Thanks for the prompt advice.
