Title: Security = server
Post by: grog on June 29, 2006, 07:43:07 AM
I know with samba on a plain linux machine, you can set it up so that it verifys passwords from another server by setting "security = server" in smb.conf and was wondering if a sme server can be setup in this way?

Problem being, i have a coupple of SME servers, a redhat server and a fedora server all providing different services. i was hoping to setup a dedicated password server and have all these servers authenticate with the main password server.

I know each machine will need to have the usernames setup manually, but thats not an issue, i just need the passwords authenticated by another server, prefably for Samba, POP3 & FTP.
