Hi There,
I just picked up a freebie LC2000. It only has two 9GB SCSI drives, so I was thinking of installing a PCI IDE card to set up a couple of IDE drives (200-300GB) in RAID 0.
Has anyone managed this on this particular box? If not, I would appreciate some pointers. I'm not so sure how SME7 will handle this situation. I don't really care about the 9GB drives since they are so small; I'll probably just dump these.
FYI, there is one IDE controller on board for the CD, so I don't think I can put this to use if I want a IDE RAID 0 set.
Thanks,
Kevin

Not specific to your machine, but I've seen this on several machines. In the BIOS you should be able to set the machine to boot from any addition card such as a raid card, as the first boot device.
In the past I've used this method with low cost Promise raid or IDE cards to add ATA100 drives onto main boards which nativly only supportated ATA33.

If there's one IDE controller aboard it probably has a primary and a secondary channel; you could install, then remove the optical drive and put in the second hard drive.
Nitpicky note: you're not going to get RAID 0 out of SME Server out of the box; it's software RAID 1 or 5.
