Title: Getting SME to work with the right MODEM
Post by: rlacey on July 04, 2006, 11:27:43 AM
Hi, just started using SME and like what I see. Just one thing that is holding me back. My modem/router I have found is being stubbon and reuses to just be a modem only, no matter what i tell it, it still persists in using its router facilities. I believe that for my server to function correctly I should let deal with all incoming traffic and the modem should do what it was ment to do and just pass all traffic through to my server. I am now looking for a new modem to buy and was wondering what the best one is to use, idealy one that can do ADSL 2 or one that can have the router facility turned off easily. Cheers

Ideally you want to be able to configure the modem for bridged mode ie it just passes all the signals straight through.

It can do this but seems not very well, the modem is cheap and so many people that use this modem are having the same problem.
