Title: How do I edit squid.config? - NEW USER NEEDS HELP!
Post by: Bill Galeckas on January 23, 2002, 05:22:11 PM
Hi.
I've installed e-smith and squid. Now I need to access and edit squid.config to do some http_access restrictions. How do I access, edit, and save the squid.config file? I did a default install of SME server V5. Thanks in advance!

P.S. - I tried to find this by searching the forums, but had no luck...

to configure the squid.conf manually you have to log on locally on your Server (user:root).

Then you have access to the file system.
The squid.conf resides in /etc/squid

There is a .conf - sample with the descriptions of each command. But you have to edit the squid.conf

You better should use the webmin-interface (look on my post below...)

Don't edit squid.conf.

Use the templates.

Copy templates to /etc/e-smith/templates-custom and modify them than expands them.
