Title: Best Ecommerce and Webpage making software to use...?
Post by: Gizzmo on July 14, 2006, 08:09:22 PM
So i have someone that wants to try to sell some of their products online. I threw out the idea of the SME server and we got myself sucked in doing the research....

So this person isn't very computer savvy so what i was looking for is:

Simple Ecommerce program for SME

One of those Webpage programs that is all "online" so that it can be created edited and whatnot online all gui like if possible....?

Ideas welcome!

It might be overkill, but I like osCommerce (http://www.oscommerce.org). It uses MySQL as database and has a webbased administration section.

They are in the process of releasing version 3, but that will take a few months at least. Untill that time you could download version osCommerce 2.2 Milestone 2 Update 051113. This is the latest release and is considered pretty stable.

Gizzmo,

It's very hard to find simple ecommerce script. Then I use Joomla as a web portal and I use a modified PHP script called MyCart http://open.appideas.com/MyCart/[/url]

I have a few online shops and have been selling online for a few years now and doing well. I agree for a few products Joomla is the one and if it is just a true online shop you want I found ZenCart ( http://www.zencart.com/ )to be the best! Easy install, easy module mods and all the right "call to action" designs to prompt the client to buy with easy steps to complete there online order. Below is a few links to some of my online stuff
