Hi
I have tryed to install SME7 as server and gateway. The connection from my pc to the sme server are okay, but when I surf on the internet :-/ i goes veeery slow....?
Some ideas why the internet is slow when i use sme as router?
When I connect my old router and use then, i surf normal speed agian.

Perhaps the default proxy settings are interfering - try turning off the proxies in server-manager (Security - Proxy settings).
I'm using a 450MHz system on a 15Mbit fiber internet connection, and it does very well (with or without the proxy turned on).
What about downloading directly from the SME box using "wget..." - does that run faster?

A fractional OC-1 line... I'd hate to see the monthly bill on that one. Is it a reasonable price?
My sources say the Bell companies can make DSL go above this speed and they are just throttling speed to milk the market for all its worth. I expect the higher speeds to be release within the year.

Actually it's a Verizon FiOS residential connection - about $50 per month...
For about $200 / month I could get 45Mbit...

Inherently it is not slow, so that means something is configured inappropriately.
What is the IP setting for DNS Server in server manager Review Configuration ? In most cases just make it the same IP as the sme server.

Stop bragging you guys, the fastest (affordable) connection we can get here is 1.5M ADSL. On average that speed with about 20G of data is between $80 and $100 AUD.
Anyways, back on topic if your internet is slow when running through sme, it's either your machine is overloaded/underpowered for the work it's doing or as was said before there is a config problem(usually DNS related)
Hoping and praying for ADSL2 for xmas
