Title: Concerned about potential insecurity
Post by: hitman012 on July 25, 2006, 12:52:39 AM
Hey,

I installed SME Server on an old Celeron machine a few days ago with the intention of using it primarily as a file server with imposed quotas. However, it's a lot more powerful that I thought it would be and so I thought I'd try and install phpMyAdmin on it to test out the mySQL capability.

I downloaded an RPM for it and installed it; it gave no errors on install but seems to have done nothing. I'm not that concerned about the software not working, but instead about any potential security issues that could arise through having it installed. The server is in server-only mode behind a router firewall, but I'd just like to be sure (and, if possible, find out a way to remove the RPM that I installed!).

Thanks in advance :)

Which RPM did you download/install?  Did you use https:// when accessing phpmyadmin?
