Title: will outgoing only mail work thru SME?
Post by: Gregg on January 29, 2002, 03:42:23 AM
If I dont set up V5 with update 2 & 3 to retrieve outside email from my ISP, can I still send outgoing mail thru the SME so it intercepts the internal mail?  I only want to use it to route internal mail but for that to work I think I have to set the SME as the outgoing mail server in all the user mail clients.  I am having problems with a Eudora Pro client that wont send out thru the SME at all. I also have other problems with outlook express clients not being able to log in to retrieve internal mail consistantly but dont know it it is related.  Thanks for any replies.

Yes

but you need to test it.. if it doesn't work use your ISP's SMTP server IP's.

1) To do this go to the Admin Webpages
2) Then click on Other E-mail settings I believe and somewhere in the middle there, there will be a thing to place in your ISP's SMTP server IP address and do it there. Then you should be able to send out e-mails but if it doesn't I am not sure..

Some ISP's do not allow for relaying of messages and some do.. just test around and eventually you should get it to work..

But remember just try to send a message without changing the SMTP settings..
