I have searched about the whole web but couldn't find an answer, so I would appreciate it very must if you could help me.
I am using SME Server 7 at work and Windows XP Pro SP2 at home, now when I set up my Outlook Express to see the server at work and retrieve my mail it gives me this error on try to receive;
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'WorkServer', Server: 'ServerIP', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
I can send my and the VPN connection I setup through PPTP also work 100% its just when I try to receive mail that I get this error massage.
Thanks

If your mail settings in server manager are correct, You need to configure outlookexpress to use ssl connections. Pop3 is port 995, and smtp is port 465.
You need to make these changes in the advanced tab of the mail account.

Hi thanx,
I have tried doing that, but has still not been successful. Outlook still gives the same error message.

Do you have POP3 server access set to Allow private and public in the server manager?
-
Jipe this is my e-mail settings
E-mail settings
POP3 server access Allow private and public (secure POP3S)
IMAP server access Allow private
Webmail access Allow HTTPS (secure)
and my remote access is set to
Number of PPTP clients 20

All those settings look good. Is there something in between outlook express and the server that is blocking the secure pop3 port?
-
The server work through a router my PC at my house also goes through a router and I have NIS2006 installed on my home PC.
-
Have you forwarded/pinholed the correct ports i.e 995 for POP3S and 465 for SSMTP through the router to your SME Server.
