There is a description of the search box top-left of the contribs website at

I didn't find an explanation as to why this site maintains two search boxes.
Do they have different scopes?
Thanks, David.

I don't exactly know what you mean with "two search boxes"... my guess is you found the built-in search feature of the bulletinboard which comes with module by default.

I don't exactly know what you mean with "two search boxes"
In my firefox browser, I see a search box above the main menu in the left hand column immediately below the date display, and also a box labelled "search site" with a magnifying glass icon at top right in the same horizontal band as the login boxes. Do you see those two?

The first box (top right) is available to everyone, thus also anonymous users. The second box (left top when logged in) has exactly the same function but also includes an advanced search function option.
This was done by design and the two boxes do NOT have a different scope.

The second box (left top when logged in)
I see both boxes before I log in.
It's not a biggie by any means, and it's good to know that both boxes have the same scope.
I'll put it in the bug tracker.
Thanks, David.
