Title: SME crashes every couple of days after update
Post by: del on August 31, 2006, 03:43:32 PM
Hi All,

I recently updated my SME server using the update link in server-manager and everything seemed OK, it rebooted etc. However after 2 days I couldn't access the server on my LAN, When I turned on the server's monitor it had the following message
Quote
Kernel panic- not syncing Fatal exception in interrupt
I rebooted it and it came up OK, didn't notice any errors on the screen. A couple of days later exactly the same, no access and the same message :-?
I have searched the message on here but there were no results   Can anyone help me get my server back to it's normal "run for ever with no problems" state? I am running SME 7 with no addons. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I am not so sure it is the memory, I have changed it and will see how it goes.

Hi,

Server crashed again even with new memory :-x  It appears to do it at the same time each couple of days. Is there a command that I can use to see what events are taking place every other day. Thanks

Del :-?

I also get this happening.. I have replaced the memory and ran memtest86 to check to see if there were any errors within the mem, all ok.
Running 7.03 with all the updates.

The log file states the following:

Sep 11 15:55:31 dresden kernel: Code: 68 16 c0 0c e5 29 c2 00 1e e8 f7 00 00 00 00 f4 75 b1 f4 53 1c 15 c0 10 03 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 70 4c b4 b6 <80> 7f 72 f3 a2 0c 2d c0 00 c0 1c f2 c2 23 1c c0 00 00 00 00 06
Sep 11 15:55:32 dresden kernel:  <0>Fatal exception: panic in 5 seconds
Sep 11 15:55:32 dresden kernel: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address a2067767

Anyone have any clues to fix this?

I am having a somewhat similar problem, I don't know if this was caused by the updates or contribs I have installed.  Various services stop responding or start to runaway and run my cpu at 100% and I reboot and they work fine for a couple of days.  I can't pin down the problem so I am hesitant to put in a bug report on this one.

Search the bug tracker and if you don't find a match raise a bug. People there will assist you in pinning it down.

Link this thread to your bug report and come back here with a link to your bug report.

Hi All,

Well my server ran for almost two weeks without crashing and crashed again today with the same error :?  I don't have any contribs installed on this server, I just host a website and email on it. I may consider reinstalling and NOT doing any updates and see if it still does this.

Regards,
Del

Del, you really need to report a bug report as the core dev's won't really see your post so please help them and post a bug, you might not be able to pin it down but they might via the bug tracker.
