Hi!
I currently have a server running SME 6.5 with all updates.
I want to perform a fresh install of SME 7, but afterwards restore/copy etc. the users' IMAP email back to their directories.
Is this as simple as copying the users "Maildir" folder back into their home directory from my backup (USB drive) media, or is there some "more correct" way to perform this?
I would rather perform a fresh install over an update, but if that's the recommended way, I will do it...
cheers

I just did this on the weekend ... But I have a test server.
I setup all the user accounts on the test server ... then used imapcopy to copy all the users mail accross to it.
Re-loaded the old server with SME7.0 and re-setup all the users ... then copied there mail back again.
We only have 27 users so it wasn't that painfull.
All up it probably took me 10 hrs to setup everything including all the addons I wanted on the server.
I always run modified installs because the straight fresh install doesn't have enough features that I require.
As for the way you wnat to do it ... I'm not sure ... never tried it even with the test server.

Tib

The way the folders are named in Maildir changed between 6.01 and 7.
eg.
6.01
INBOX;sales;august
7
.INBOX.sales.august
If 6.5 is the same as 6.01 then you have a problem.
I believe the 'upgrade' from 6x to 7 will correct the above. Backup the maildirs first just in case.
Then do as you suggested in your original post. When I've done it 7.0 to 7.0 the only problem was emails previously read appeared unread (I think). It was a while ago. Oh, and keep an eye on permissions and ownership of the transfered Maildirs.
