Hi,
In the server-manager we have the ability to "return to sender" or forward to a user an messages that are "Email to unknown users". But I've got some body fishing for email addresses.
What do you guys do about this?
I have numerous (6000 in the past 12 hours) messages in the qpsmtpd logs for 550 invalid recipient.
@4000000044feb313299846fc 13431 550 invalid recipient sergeujud@hitechsavvy.org
@4000000044feb36327d428cc 13484 550 invalid recipient rusk@hitechsavvy.org
@4000000044feb37a19726d5c 13485 550 invalid recipient encar@hitechsavvy.org
Do we just ignore this?

Be glad that your server is doing its job and rejecting those messages
Just ignore the log entries.

Ray,
Thanks. I just wondered if there was a better way of handling things. Seems like were are letting them fish for valid addresses.
But there isn't a mechanism for stopping a server that tries 10,000 times in a dies and gets denied. No problem.

It's a robot trying many different combinations because it DOES NOT know your valid addresses.
If you have spare time you can block the source IP with a db command, but keep in mind "they" will send from a different IP next time & so on, so you will just be chasing yor own tail entering IPs to block.

find the ip range and block the whole range. that should do it. or, if you need, block the whole country
