Title: killed my server-manager
Post by: jodahall on September 08, 2006, 05:43:09 PM
Hi there...

I have killed my server-manager, I know why but I don't know how to fix it.

here is what i did:

i have gotten rid of all my windoze pc's at home and turned them into linux pc's, in doing so I created accounts on the pc's (admin being one of them).

then i did a cifs mount between my sme server and pc's (home directories), what I found was that the uid's and gid's were different, rather than changing my five pc's I changed the sme server.  this worked fine, but......

what i didn't realize was the httpd-admin aka server-manager was run as admin....so now i get a permission denied error, so i changed the uid and gid for admin back and did a chown and chgrp to bring it back, but it still doesn't work.

I no longer get the permission denied error, but now I get a internal server error.  I don't know what and where that is coming from.

I rebooted my server a couple of times, checked uid's and gid's on all files, verified my /etc/passwd and /etc/group files.

my next step is to reinstall sme7, i hate doing that....

p.s.  i'm an idiot.

thanx

Have a look at your logs i.e /var/log/http* and check the admin-error log for any messages as to why you are getting these errors.
