hi,
Dansguardian installation successful. I am able to block machines with specific ip's using the bannediplist.
But I want them to be able to access local smeserver sites which is also getting blocked.
pls point me to what can be done about this.
thanks in advance

You can bypass proxy for local adresses, just go to the proxy configuration in your favorite web browser and check the box "don't use for local adresses" (or something like that).

The proxy never gets accessed as you have blocked that workstation IP from accessing it, therefore it cannot be bypassed either.
As far as I know Dansguardian does not have the functionality you require. If you block access to external sites and allow access to local sites then that will apply to everyone, which is not what you want

Thanks Ray,
My understanding is when I use the bannediplist it only blocks them external access, that is it blocks those machines from accessing the internet only.
What I want to acheive is that all machines on the local network should be able to access webmail and ibay html on the sme server. the machines in the bannediplist should not be able to access internet but be able to access local pages on the smeserver
Thanks

No, it blocks access to the proxy port which provides web access. If you can't obtain web access then you can't access local sites either.
You have already demonstrated that to be true.
