Title: Errors
Post by: Mortale on September 28, 2006, 06:18:37 AM
Hello,

I am running sme 7.0. Everything has been running fine for weeks. (I was using RC 3)  Today all of a sudden and without cause, access to my website failed. Webmail stoped working. All outside pop3 access stoped working too. internal pop3 works fine, but that is it.

1. No website
2. No server-manager
3. No outside pop3 access
4. no inside or outside access to webmail. It simply says "could not connect to server"
5. I can ping it ok nad it lets me surf the internet.

When trying to connect to 10.0.0.1 I get a "could not connect" error. same with 10.0.0.1/server-manager. THis occurs both with http and https

I am not using a router. The server goes to a dsl modem (red) and (green) goes into a switch.

I did an upgrade to 7.0 final today hoping it would fix my problem, but no luck.

httpd is currently running (and I have restarted it many times.

any help would be great. Please remember that I do not ahve access to the server-manager so backup is not an option

thanks

You can get to server-manager from the console or from a putty session by logging in as root, then running "su admin", then pick option 6 from the menu: "Access server manager".  Uses Lynx, and is a little frustrating, but it works.

Have you looked at your log files to see why the website is not responding?  I've had similar problems a few times, but only after doing updates or installing contribs.  Looking at /var/log/httpd/error_log and /var/log/httpd/admin_error_log usually tell me what the problem is and give me a place to start looking for solutions.
