Title: SAMBA 2.2.1a and WIN2k
Post by: Adrian Brown on February 08, 2002, 03:03:43 AM
Heres the one thing I can never get working on my E-Smith server...I can never get my Win2k of XP clients to join the domain.

I have upgraded to 2.2.1a and tried 2.2.2 from fresh installs, from varying HOWTO's and Ive finally got it down to an error message I havent seen before...

"Procedure number out of range."

I have check win registry settings as per some of the HOWTO's, try release network connections, making accounts here there and everywhere...but with no joy.

CAN ANY ONE HELP!!
Thanx

Hi Adrian,

I had some problems with this recently and this is how I got it to work:

1. Upgraded to samba 2.2.2
2. changed workgroup name to something other that the e-smith w'group name eg. test
3. REBOOTED my w2k machine (don't overloook this!)
4. logged in as local admin
5. performed a "net use * /delete /yes" to clear all connections
6. right-clicked My Computer -> Network Identification -> Member of: domain ->
7. when prompted for user with rights use root (not admin)
8. "Welcome to domain: DOMAIN"
9. Break out the champagne !!!

good luck

Can this be done without any special considerations to e-smith?
