Spamassassin / Bayesian Filters / ASSP
Which one is good for spam email filtering or I can install all of them into my SME7 server to cooperate and filter the spam emails?

Spamassassin is already installed, just enable it in server manager Email panel. It will reject (at the smtp level) many spam messages, and those that get through can be filterd to the users junkmail folder & deleted automatically after a predined period.

There is a thread about using & configuring Bayesian filtering, search for it.

ASSP has a qpsmtpd plug in that can be installed, you will need to work out how to do that.

Don't overlook to enable RBL rejection as this will reject a LOT of spam (& viruses), and your local filters will have a lot less to do.

Also consider to enable Pattern matching executable content rejection, which will also reject virus infected messages & a LOT of spam as a by product. It is also installed in sme7 by default, it just needs to be enabled in server manager Email panel.

I find that with RBL enabled for the 4 standard lists, and with pattern matching enabled for everything except ZIPv2, and with Antivirus turned on, and with Spamassassin set to a low 4 points score, I get very little spam and have no need for further filtering techniques.
sme7 in a standard configuration (with a couple of tweaks) does the job very well.

Also, unless you have a very busy email server with high exposure email addresses, then I think with all the above enabled, that in many situations your server will not accept enough spam to be  able to teach the Bayesian filters that well.

I also encode all published email addresses that appear on web sites with java script, this helps to reduce harvesting of the addresses by robots and minimises the spam sent to those addresses.
There are free script generators around, search.

Bayesian filters are still installed by default in SME7? As you mentioned I need to hold a certain number of spam to teach the server to indenify spam email.

No
Search for the thread that tells you how to configure it.

That's why I mentioned it, as the default installed spam filtering tools (with all functionality enabled) is very good, and there may not be enough spam getting through to teach Bayesian filtering spam & ham.

Oh yes, I know what it is going on. Bayesian Filters is a method name to filter spam. The default SpamAssasin is using this method to find spam. Right?

Last answer george, it's time for you to search & read harder

Spamassassin is installed in sme7 but needs to be enabled in the server manager Email panel.

Bayesian Filtering can be used in conjunction with Spamassassin, but in sme7 server, Bayesian Filtering is not installed or enabled.

In sme7 you need to install & enable & configure Bayesian Filtering.
