Title: Printer drivers
Post by: rickjones on October 05, 2006, 09:54:38 PM
I can't get the UseClientDriver=no setting to work for uploading printer drivers.

It's strange because I've had this working in SME 6.0 (which is still my live server) by modifying the smb.conf template. The built-in option in 7.0 makes exactly the same changes to smb.conf, but the drivers don't actually copy to the server.

I can open Properties of the printer in SME's Printers folder, it asks for a driver so I pick the driver, and it goes through all the motions of copying the files - progress bar etc. - but no files have actually been copied. Opening Properties again asks for the driver again, and looking in the printer-driver directory there are no files.

I'm connecting to the server as admin, and in fact if I open the \\smeserver\printer$ share I can copy files in directly so permisions seem to be OK. I'm doing this from the same Windows machine that I used to install the drivers on the 6.0 machine.

smb.conf appears to be correct, and I've restarted smb (many times!) but it just won't work  :?

Any ideas?

I have a similar problem... but drivers got uploaded on server (I can see them there even they do not show when using Windows interface).

I think this is a bug. Maybe we should report it.

Looks like that bug is fixed in my version of 7.0. In smb.conf, both entries are "no".

Must be something else  :(
