Title: How to remove computer from domain

Hi all, i am a newbie and has a question regarding removing computer from domain.

What i did was to unjoin the client to existing e-smith domain to workgroup. I need to change the computer name.

After changing the computer name, i rejoin domain but somehow it recognise that this computer was previosly on the domain and it automatically change the computer name back to the original.

What is the correct steps to do this? and does this involve the SID of the XP client?

Any help is much appreciated

Are you really sure you changed the computer name and not the description? (it might sound stupid but unfortunately I have seen it happen a few times)
Did yuo do a reboot after changing the name?
Did you perhaps make a registration for the mac address of the computer in the hostname section under the hostanems and addresses section?

yes im pretty sure i changed computer name and not description.
and i rebooted after joining frm domain to workgroup immediately.
no deliberate hostname addition or mac address of client was input at the sme-server.
