Title: SME7 IMAP supporting Activesync email push
Post by: bricknell on October 11, 2006, 09:52:46 AM
Hi,

I have an SME7 install configured to be my primary IMAP mail server.  Just aquired a PocketPC handheld (Windows Mobile 5) that supports email push - but only via Activesync on an Exchange Server

Understandably, I don't want to downgrade from SME to MS Exchange...

Has anyone heard of an SME/Linux solution giving me email push functionality such as is offered with Activesync on an Exchange Server?

Thanks greatly,
Tony

There is a new project to synchronize WM5/6 mobile devices using push technology and activesync protocol. It's called z-push (http://z-push.sourceforge.net (http://z-push.sourceforge.net)) and it should work, at the moment, for IMAP mail synchronization. Writing some code, it could be used for contacts/calendar/notes synchronization "over the air". It would be amazing to update Horde (or Egroupware) suite from my PDA...
