Title: E-Smith blocking websites
Post by: Richard Emory on February 09, 2002, 07:37:53 PM
I have installed SME 5.03 and CoyoteLinux side-by-side.  When I set my gateway to the SME box I canNOT see certian sites such as http://www.godaddy.com.  I am having to change DSL providers to one which will only give me one static IP.  I need to know where/how to force SME to allow certian web sites.  BTW, another install of SME 5.03 at a different location CAN see the blocked sites.  Where are the files to edit to stop the blocking?

As SME doesn't have a block site feature installed by default, and the fact that I just visited the site myself through an SME server suggests (to me at least) that the problem lays elsewhere.

No guesses as to where to start looking.. although options such as running traceroutes, pinging and clearing the Squid cache come to mind.

Luke

Found the problem.  I tried to install the Dual Public DNS Server from the How To here: http://www.e-smith.org/docs/howto/contrib/dual_dns.html
I must have done something to fry the DNS because DNS would not get new records or allow qmail to send e-mail out.  Now that I have undone all the changes, my mail que for the last week or so has cleared out.  The only reason I found this is because people were not getting my e-mails.

Maybe I'll try again. :-(
