i'm trying to replace a failed scsi drive in a raid1 array. got the new drive in and when i'm trying to format it, i get this:
dd: writing to `/dev/sdb': Input/output error
17942577+0 records in
17942576+0 records out
Does that mean that the new drive is bad as well?
Thanks!

Why are you trying to "format' it using the dd command?
The new drive is either smaller than the existing one, or there is a fault with it.
