After updating my homenet server (www.janeshouse.com) from 5.0 to 5.12, it seems that some mail is no longer getting through. Not all of it, but certain users who regularly send mail (like, for instance, myself from work) get a "unable to locate" bounce message after the message times out. Others get right through. I'm not sure why this works when and how it does - other than that I wonder if it's a setting with qmail being more restrictive by default (perhaps verifying the host before accepting SMTP) or if it's a problem with my DNS upstream (I use ZoneEdit in conjunction with my cable modem and a NAT router).
Anyone have similar issues?

My set up, which is the same (5.12 and zoneedit) works very well. No bounced messages. If only I could get my XP and SME to play well.
Sorry I wasn't much help. I did want to let you know that your setup is working at two locations (one with 50 users).

That's a DNS issue for your domain, then, and nothing to do with the server software.
If you think there is a problem with the server software, then send a detailed bug report to bugs@e-smith.com.

That's pretty much what I suspect - it's just that it happened right at upgrade time, mail was flowing OK before that. I just dumped my cable company for DirecTV DSL, and several of the senders now seem to be getting through OK.
I'm going to do some more extensive testing this weekend to make sure.

Hi Charlie,
I have this problem to... Even when I do "test internet connection" sometimes I get "internet connection failed..". If I repeat this at once, connection is fine. And I have not delivered some emails long time (4-5 days in queue). So I think that it is my ISP DNS server error. Or am I wrong??? If my guess is correct, what I should do to convice my ISP that this is theirs fault? Or how can I check their DNS server?
I am using SME 5.1.2 in server only mode. To internet I am connecting through Cabletron router + Radio modem + Radio antenna. Or maybe problem is with modem/antenna? How can I test connection and locate where is the problem?
Thanks for any idea.
