I have searshed, but have not seen anything that would helpso far, so please bear with me.
I have an SME box as an internet-facing gateway, and need to be able to allow PPTP to my system (get into my home network) as well as be able to connect to a remote PPTP server, but I cannot get a connection up and running.
It works if I am not behind the SME gateway, and does not seem to matter if I have the local PPTPD on or not, I cannot get to the remote gateway.
Any help is appreciated, as this is getting pretty frustrating.
Thanks,
Bob

Thanks, but that is the OpenVPN implementation, and I am using PPTP.
Thanks,

I have the exact same issue. If using the SME server as my gateway, I cannot connect to another remote PPTP server. If I change the gateway to any other router, it connects to the remote PPTP server no problem.
It seems like SME server, when used as a gateway, is blocking something that will not allow a PPTP connection to a remote server.
Did you ever get a solution to this topic?

I probably wasn't very clear when I answered this the first time and for that I apologize.
Some time ago I raised this issue as a posting. I use sme server at home. When I had PPTP (VPN) access enabled on my SME server, I could get into home from work but could not vpn into work ( a netopia device) from home. I raised a bug also. The original posting is here http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=36779.0
. There are some more details there if you wish or go to the bug.
I installed the openvpn contrib on me sme server at home, put the client on my work laptop and everything works well, I can vpn into either network. At home I use the regular windows client to get into work. At work or elsewhere I use the much more secure Openvpn contrib. It works very well, I can play my home music at work etc.
I hope this answers your question.
