Title: Firewall
Post by: Daniel on February 14, 2002, 12:59:41 AM
Hello, My name is Daniel and I'm trying to set up an e-smith server.
Because I want to be sure that I have a good firewal, I went to www.pointman.org to download their firewallscript.(it was recommended by a message on this forum) There is only one problem with it: It Doesn't work.
Can anyone please tell me how I can get a good firewall, easy to install for the linux newbee, up and running?

A linux learner

Dependent on your needs i would try
http://www.ipcop.org/cgi-bin/twiki/view/IPCop/WebHome

The gotcha here is that IPcop is a Distro in its self and cannot co-exist on the E-Smith computer. It is how ever a web based, really simple installation that allows a lot of control over the firewall.

Hi again,

Perhaps this following site might help you a bit too
http://netsecurity.about.com/cs/linuxfirewalls/

Good site for general info on how the different firewall options work
